Self Esteem

Look, you’re great. You might not believe me, you might be so totally convinced that you’re not that it pisses you off to even hear that you are, but I’m damn sure you’re great. Not without flaws. Not without experiences from your past that you wish had gone differently. Not without things to learn and places to grow. But that just makes you like everyone else. A person. And people are great.

It is really easy to get down on ourselves. The world teaches us in so many ways that we don’t stack up, that we aren’t good enough, that we don’t matter. On top of that, we’ve got a cognitive bias to focus on the negative things, especially when it comes to ourselves. Ten people tell you your lasagna is delicious, but one person says it sucks, and which one do you remember the most the next day? The person who said it sucks. But that negative comment does not change or erase the ten good ones. So, maybe we can try to focus on those, right?

If you struggle with low self-esteem, come talk to me. Together we will rediscover your strengths, bring them to the fore, and help them shine. We’ll explore your weaknesses and find ways to lessen their impact on your life. We’ll help you move forward with confidence and courage. And help you start realizing your worth and find some positive self-esteem. Until you think you’re great, too.
